What it does
Windows location services let apps and Windows itself read where the PC is. This tweak sets the consent value to deny and the DisableLocation policy, which switches location off for the whole PC.
In the app the switch is called "Disable Location Tracking", described there as: Blocks OS-wide location access to prevent geofence wakeups and background traffic.
When it helps, and when it hurts
When it helps
- Privacy: no app can read your location, and Windows stops looking it up.
When it hurts
- Weather, maps, Find my device and automatic time zone no longer know where you are.
What it writes
Exactly what the switch changes, read from the app's source. Switching it off is what the app writes when you turn the tweak off again.
| Key and value | With the tweak | Switching it off |
|---|---|---|
| HKLMSOFTWARE\ | 0 | Stays 0Switching it off leaves it. |
| HKCUSoftware\ | 0 | Stays 0Switching it off leaves it. |
| HKLMSOFTWARE\ | 1 | Not setThe value is deleted. Windows decides. |

The same change by hand
You do not need the app for this one. These commands make the changes from the table above. Run them in a Command Prompt opened as administrator, and make a restore point first.
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CapabilityAccessManager\ConsentStore\location" /v "Value" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CapabilityAccessManager\ConsentStore\location" /v "Value" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\LocationAndSensors" /v "DisableLocation" /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /freg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\LocationAndSensors" /v "DisableLocation" /freg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CapabilityAccessManager\ConsentStore\location" /v "Value"How to undo it
In the app: Yes
Switching it off sets a standard Windows value, which may not be exactly how you had it.
Switch the tweak off in Frozen Tweaks. It deletes DisableLocation, so Windows uses its built-in behavior again.
Changing several settings at once? The app's Make a restore point button, on every plan, makes a Windows restore point before you start.
Verdict
A privacy setting, with no performance side to it.
