AutoEndTasks, WaitToKillAppTimeout and HungAppTimeout: making Windows shut down faster
Short answer
UpdatedAt shutdown Windows asks each program to close and waits. HungAppTimeout is how long before a program counts as not responding, WaitToKillAppTimeout how long it gets to close, and AutoEndTasks whether Windows closes it without asking. This tweak shortens both waits and turns AutoEndTasks on. In the registry it sets AutoEndTasks to 1 under HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop, and 2 more values.

What it does
At shutdown Windows asks each program to close and waits. HungAppTimeout is how long before a program counts as not responding, WaitToKillAppTimeout how long it gets to close, and AutoEndTasks whether Windows closes it without asking. This tweak shortens both waits and turns AutoEndTasks on.
In the app the switch is called "Faster Shutdown", described there as: Closes apps that hang at shutdown after 3 to 5 seconds instead of waiting for you (sign out to apply).
When it helps, and when it hurts
When it helps
- Shutdowns and restarts that hang on 'This app is preventing shutdown'.
When it hurts
- A program that needed more time to save can lose unsaved work. Save before you shut down.
- Sign out once to apply.
What it writes
Exactly what the switch changes, read from the app's source. Switching it off is what the app writes when you turn the tweak off again.

The same change by hand
You do not need the app for this one. These commands make the changes from the table above. Run them in a Command Prompt opened as administrator, and make a restore point first.
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v "AutoEndTasks" /t REG_SZ /d "1" /f
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v "WaitToKillAppTimeout" /t REG_SZ /d "5000" /f
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v "HungAppTimeout" /t REG_SZ /d "3000" /freg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v "WaitToKillAppTimeout" /t REG_SZ /d "20000" /f
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v "HungAppTimeout" /t REG_SZ /d "5000" /freg query "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v "AutoEndTasks"How to undo it
In the app: Yes
Switching it off puts back exactly what was there before, value for value.
Switch the tweak off in Frozen Tweaks. The app saved what each value was before the change and writes exactly that back, or removes the value if it did not exist.
Changing several settings at once? The app's Make a restore point button, on every plan, makes a Windows restore point before you start.
Verdict
Convenient, as long as you do not count on the shutdown prompt to remind you to save.
