Frozen Tweaks 2.0: What Is New and Where to Find It
Short answer
UpdatedFrozen Tweaks 2.0 is a rebuilt Windows app. New are the Diagnosis tab, which scores your PC and names what holds it back, the Cleaner tab, game profiles for many more games with optional in-game settings, a Frozen AI that measures real frame times, a proper installer, and updates that install themselves. The catalog grew to 177 tweaks, 58 of them free.
Key takeaways
- The app now has eight tools in one window: Dashboard, One-Click, Tweaks, Startup, Frozen AI, Game Profiles, Diagnosis and Cleaner.
- Diagnosis and Cleaner are new. Diagnosis only reads your PC; Cleaner only deletes the groups you tick.
- Game profiles cover many more games, can switch on by themselves when the game starts, and offer in-game settings for some titles with a backup of your old file.
- The download is one file that installs itself, and from 2.0 on the app updates itself after checking the file it downloaded.

Quick setup
Download and run the file
The download is a single file. Run it and press Install: it copies itself to Program Files, adds the shortcuts you chose and opens the app.
Sign in once
With "Keep me signed in" ticked, the app signs you in by itself from then on. Signing out is on the Account tab.
Run the diagnosis first
Open Diagnosis and let it scan. It tells you which part of the PC limits the others and which usual causes of poor performance it found, so you know where to start.
Switch on what fits
Use the Tweaks tab for single switches, a game profile for the game you play, or One-Click for the whole suite with a restore point made first.
What does each tab do?
| Setting | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard | Overview | CPU, GPU, memory and disk load right now, and how many tweaks are on in each group of the catalog. |
| One-Click | The whole suite in one run | It lists every step before you start and makes a restore point first. The tab also shows the restore points the app made. |
| Tweaks | The catalog, one switch each | Search, filter by group, by free and Pro, or by what is on. Switching a tweak off again puts back what it changed. |
| Startup | What starts with Windows | The same switch Task Manager has. Nothing is deleted, and switching an entry back on undoes it. |
| Frozen AI | Works while you play | Reads how the game in front really runs, tries a few Windows settings, keeps the one that measured best on your PC, and holds busy background apps back. |
| Game Profiles | The tweaks that fit one game | Picked from the game's engine, graphics API and anti-cheat, and switched on together. |
| Diagnosis | New in 2.0 | Scores each part of the PC, names the bottleneck and lists what it found. It reads only. |
| Cleaner | New in 2.0 | Deletes files that only take up space, by group, after showing you how much each group holds. |
What changed in game profiles?
Profiles used to exist for two games. Version 2.0 has a profile for each of the most played competitive games, and the app looks for the ones you have installed and puts them first.
- Auto: with the switch on a game's card set to Auto, the profile is switched on when that game starts, so you do not have to open the app before you play.
- In-game settings: for some games the app can write a competitive preset into the game's own settings file. It only changes settings that are already in that file, and it keeps a copy of your file so you can go back.
- Each profile says which tweaks it deliberately leaves alone for that game, for example because the game's anti-cheat requires a Windows security feature.
How is the new Frozen AI different?
The old Frozen AI reacted to which program was in front. The new one measures. Windows records when each frame of a game is shown; Frozen AI reads those records, so it knows the game's real frame rate and its slowest frames without entering the game.
It measures Windows as it is
While you play, it first takes a reading with nothing changed. That is the number everything else is compared against.
It tries a few settings
It switches the power plan and the game's priority, alone and together, and measures each combination for the same length of time.
It keeps the best one
The combination with the best slowest frames stays on while the game runs, and is remembered for that game. If nothing beats plain Windows, it changes nothing.
It puts things back
When the game closes, the power plan and priorities go back to what they were.
Next to that, it lowers the priority of background apps that keep using the processor while the game is in front. System processes, voice chat and recording software are left alone.
How do installing and updating work now?
The download is one file. On the first start it offers to install itself: to Program Files, with a desktop shortcut and a start with Windows if you want them. After that it is listed in Windows under Installed apps and can be removed there like any other program.
From 2.0 on the app looks for a new version by itself. Before it uses a downloaded update it checks three things: that the file has the size and the checksum the server published, and that it is signed by the same publisher as the app that is running. A file that fails any of them is thrown away.

Questions
Do I have to uninstall the old version first?
No. Download the new file and run it. It installs itself, and the old file you downloaded before can simply be deleted. Your account and your plan stay the same.
Are my tweaks still switched on after the update?
Tweaks are changes to Windows, not to the app, so what you switched on stays on. The Tweaks tab shows which ones are on, and each one can be switched off there.
Does the diagnosis change anything on my PC?
No. It reads what your PC is made of and how Windows is set up, and reports it. Where it finds something to fix, it tells you what to do or points you to the tweak; nothing is changed by the scan itself.
Can the new version get me banned?
It works the same way as before: it changes Windows settings and never enters the game. Frozen AI reads frame timing from Windows, not from the game, and the in-game settings option only edits the settings file the game writes itself.
