# Remove Xbox apps from Windows (Xbox, Game Bar, Xbox Identity Provider): what breaks

**Short answer:** Windows ships with the Xbox app, Xbox Game Bar and several helper packages. This tweak removes those packages for all users. It removes 7 app packages, Microsoft.XboxApp among them.

## In the app

- Switch: Remove Xbox Apps (Debloat, Pro, Standard)
- Undo: One-way. Switching it off doesn't reinstall the Xbox apps. Get them back from the Microsoft Store.
- Catalog row: https://frozentweaks.com/tweaks#t-1114

## What it does

Windows ships with the Xbox app, Xbox Game Bar and several helper packages. This tweak removes those packages for all users.

In the app the switch is called "Remove Xbox Apps", described there as: Uninstalls Xbox app stack (Xbox, Game Bar, Identity) for all users.

## When it helps

- Players who never use Game Pass, Game Bar or Xbox sign-in and want the apps gone.

## When it hurts

- Game Pass and Microsoft Store games stop working, and games that sign in with an Xbox account (Minecraft, Forza, Sea of Thieves and others) can fail to start.
- Win + G no longer opens Game Bar.
- It is one-way: you reinstall the apps from the Microsoft Store.

## What it writes

Read from the app's source. "Switching it off" is what the app writes when you turn the tweak off again.

App packages it removes, for all users:

- `Microsoft.XboxApp*`
- `Microsoft.GamingApp*`
- `Microsoft.Xbox.TCUI*`
- `Microsoft.XboxGameOverlay*`
- `Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay*`
- `Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider*`
- `Microsoft.XboxSpeechToTextOverlay*`

## How to undo it

This tweak is one-way in the app: switching it off does not put things back. Switching it off doesn't reinstall the Xbox apps. Get them back from the Microsoft Store.

## Verdict

Only if you are sure none of your games use Xbox services. Disabling Game DVR gives the performance part without the breakage.
