# KeyboardDelay 0 and KeyboardSpeed 31: the fastest keyboard repeat rate in Windows

**Short answer:** KeyboardDelay is how long you hold a key before it starts repeating (0 is the shortest, about 250 ms), and KeyboardSpeed is how fast it repeats (31 is the fastest, about 30 per second). This tweak sets both to their fastest values. In the registry it sets KeyboardDelay to 0 under HKCU\Control Panel\Keyboard, and 1 more value.

## What it does

KeyboardDelay is how long you hold a key before it starts repeating (0 is the shortest, about 250 ms), and KeyboardSpeed is how fast it repeats (31 is the fastest, about 30 per second). This tweak sets both to their fastest values.

In the app the switch is called "Fastest Keyboard Repeat", described there as: Sets the shortest delay and the fastest repeat rate for a held key (sign out once).
