# Disable the Sticky Keys popup: the Flags values for Sticky, Toggle and Filter Keys

**Short answer:** Pressing Shift five times, or holding a key, opens the Sticky Keys, Toggle Keys or Filter Keys dialog, which can pull you out of a game. The Flags values for the three features decide whether the shortcut is active, and this tweak sets them so the shortcuts are off. In the registry it sets Flags to 506 under HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\StickyKeys, and 2 more values.

## In the app

- Switch: Disable Sticky Keys Popup (Windows, Free, Standard)
- Undo: Yes. Switching it off puts back exactly what was there before, value for value.
- Game profiles that switch it on: Apex Legends, ARC Raiders, Battlefield 6 and 18 more
- Catalog row: https://frozentweaks.com/tweaks#t-1143

## What it does

Pressing Shift five times, or holding a key, opens the Sticky Keys, Toggle Keys or Filter Keys dialog, which can pull you out of a game. The Flags values for the three features decide whether the shortcut is active, and this tweak sets them so the shortcuts are off.

In the app the switch is called "Disable Sticky Keys Popup", described there as: Stops the Shift x5 and held key accessibility popups from interrupting games.

## When it helps

- Games where you tap or hold Shift a lot.

## When it hurts

- If you rely on these accessibility features, you turn them on in Settings instead of with the shortcut.

## What it writes

Read from the app's source. "Switching it off" is what the app writes when you turn the tweak off again.

Registry values:

| Key | Value | With the tweak | Switching it off |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\StickyKeys` | `Flags` | `506` | Your previous value (saved before the change, or deleted if there was none). Windows default: 510 |
| `HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\ToggleKeys` | `Flags` | `58` | Your previous value (saved before the change, or deleted if there was none). Windows default: 62 |
| `HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\Keyboard Response` | `Flags` | `122` | Your previous value (saved before the change, or deleted if there was none). Windows default: 126 |

## The same change by hand

Run in a Command Prompt opened as administrator. Make a restore point first.

```bat
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\StickyKeys" /v "Flags" /t REG_SZ /d "506" /f
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\ToggleKeys" /v "Flags" /t REG_SZ /d "58" /f
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\Keyboard Response" /v "Flags" /t REG_SZ /d "122" /f
```

Put it back:

```bat
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\StickyKeys" /v "Flags" /t REG_SZ /d "510" /f
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\ToggleKeys" /v "Flags" /t REG_SZ /d "62" /f
reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\Keyboard Response" /v "Flags" /t REG_SZ /d "126" /f
```

See what it is set to now:

```bat
reg query "HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility\StickyKeys" /v "Flags"
```

## How to undo it

Switch the tweak off in Frozen Tweaks. The app saved what each value was before the change and writes exactly that back, or removes the value if it did not exist.
