# Disable SensorService and lfsvc (Geolocation Service): what they do

**Short answer:** SensorService manages hardware sensors such as rotation and ambient light, and lfsvc is the Geolocation Service that tells apps where the PC is. This tweak sets both to Disabled. It sets the SensorService, lfsvc services to Disabled.

## In the app

- Switch: Disable Sensor & Location (Debloat, Pro, Advanced)
- Undo: Yes. Switching it off sets a standard Windows value, which may not be exactly how you had it.
- Catalog row: https://frozentweaks.com/tweaks#t-1039

## What it does

SensorService manages hardware sensors such as rotation and ambient light, and lfsvc is the Geolocation Service that tells apps where the PC is. This tweak sets both to Disabled.

In the app the switch is called "Disable Sensor & Location", described there as: Disables SensorService and Geolocation to eliminate polling.

## When it helps

- A desktop PC, which has no sensors to read and rarely needs a location.

## When it hurts

- Automatic screen rotation and brightness on tablets and laptops, and anything that uses your location (weather, maps, Find my device, automatic time zone).

## What it writes

Read from the app's source. "Switching it off" is what the app writes when you turn the tweak off again.

Services (startup type):

| Service | With the tweak | Switching it off |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `SensorService` (Sensor Service) | Disabled | Manual |
| `lfsvc` (Geolocation Service) | Disabled | Manual |

Source: Tweaks/sensorsoff.hpp in the app's source, app 2.0.0, checked 2026-10-08.

## The same change by hand

Run in a Command Prompt opened as administrator. Make a restore point first.

```bat
sc config "SensorService" start= disabled
sc config "lfsvc" start= disabled
```

Put it back:

```bat
sc config "SensorService" start= demand
sc config "lfsvc" start= demand
```

## How to undo it

Switch the tweak off in Frozen Tweaks. It sets SensorService to Manual, lfsvc to Manual.

## Verdict

Fine on a desktop. On a laptop or tablet, leave it alone.
